Medical Billing Certificate
Kaplan Continuing Education’s Medical Billing Certificate program was developed by individuals in the industry with real-world knowledge to help students understand the claims and reimbursement processes associated with commercial and government health insurance. Medical billing training is essential to be able to perform these detailed tasks and the first step in medical billing certifications.*
Your employees could become key players in reimbursement and claims processing, and play a critical role in the fiscal stability of the health care industry. Opportunities for medical billing professionals may exist in a diversity of health care settings, including physicians’ offices and hospitals.†
Medical billers are responsible for a variety of activities, which include the following: processing health insurance claims, reconciling unpaid claims, managing accounts receivable, researching and resolving delinquent accounts, contacting insurance companies, and working within the parameters of private and government insurance systems.
Make a difference.
Your employees can be important members of the health care industry, and utilize their medical billing skills each time a patient receives medical attention, a claim is billed and processed, or a medical bill is examined. Medical billing requires proper recordkeeping, analysis, and claims processing skills. Without proper medical billing training, increased errors related to medical claims are possible and costly, so accuracy and attention to detail are important.
Medical billing employees will likely speak with insurance companies and health care providers regularly, so good communication skills are essential. Government regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, workers’ compensation, and commercial insurance policies require medical billers to have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the medical billing process.
