Chronic illnesses, disabilities, and catastrophic injuries affect millions across the nation. In fact, there are an estimated 250,000 to 400,000 individuals living with spinal cord injury or spinal dysfunction.* Individuals with careers in life care planning play a vital role in developing plans for improving these patients’ quality of life and preventing further complications.
As a life care planning specialist,† your employees could apply their knowledge of the medical, psychosocial, and economic aspects of disabilities and chronic health care conditions to develop comprehensive plans with patients. Analyze, research, evaluate, and work with other professionals to develop a life care plan that assess a patient’s future medical, psychosocial, and financial needs.

The Life Care Planning Certificate program is designed for registered nurses and other health and human services professionals who would like to pursue a career in life care planning,† specifically: occupational therapists, physical therapists, rehabilitation counselors, case managers, social workers, psychologists, medical doctors, chiropractors, nurse practitioners, special education professionals, licensed speech pathologists, and professional counselors. This program could also be a step for those going on to pursue life care nurse planning certification.‡
