KCE’s Project Management Certificate is ideally suited for business, information technology, and construction professionals. The program first concentrates on providing a strong foundation in project management, then combines the advanced skills from one of three core practice areas:
Business
The purpose of this track is to develop students’ ability to anticipate and analyze project management issues that may be encountered in the workplace. Students will examine the role of project management in the business world, and develop practical tools to handle all situations where project management is needed. Case studies provide students exposure to project management issues and solutions.
Information Technology
This track introduces the fundamental nature of information technology (IT) projects and defines special techniques involved in IT project management. Concepts such as the definition of a project, the nature of the project team, and the role and function of the project manager are presented. Discussion incorporates the language of IT industry projects, the context in which such projects are conducted, and the key IT industry players in the project management process. Students investigate practical application of project management principles in the IT industry. The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) and the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) recommendations are introduced as the basis to further explore practices, tools, and techniques for successful IT project management.
Construction
This track introduces the fundamental nature of construction projects and defines special techniques involved in construction project management. Concepts such as the definition of a project, the nature of the project team, and the role and function of the project manager are presented. Discussion incorporates the language of construction industry projects, the context in which such projects are conducted, and the key construction industry players in the project management process. Students investigate the practical application of project management principles in the construction industry. The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) is introduced as the basis to further explore practices, tools, and techniques for successful construction project management.
