The Environmental Sustainability Certificate at Kaplan Continuing Education (KCE) focuses on the best ways to combine environmentalism with profitable business management strategies. Students have the opportunity to develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to help them better understand environmental sustainability within the framework of a business management program, and explore innovative approaches to recognize, research, and find solutions to a range of complex issues.

The Environmental Sustainability Certificate is ideally suited for those seeking a career change or a new position within the environmental sustainability field, e.g., managers, directors, architects, urban planners, landscape architects, designers, business owners, consultants, and all those responsible for going “green.” Candidates in the business or project management track must possess a high school diploma or GED. Those in the Lean Six Sigma or combined project management track must possess an associate’s degree and a basic knowledge of statistics.
Students can select from three specialization tracks:
Business
The track provides the basic foundation in environmental sustainability as it relates to an organizational environment.
Courses include:

- Environmental Laws and Regulations
- Working for Environmental Sustainability
Project Management
The project management track expands on the business track to provide advanced topics in the use of project management techniques.
Courses include:
- The Business of Sustainability
- Environmental Laws and Regulations
- Working for Environmental Sustainability
- Environmental Project Management 1 – Fundamentals of Project Management
- Environmental Project Management 2 – Advanced Project Management
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
The track expands on the business track to provide advanced topics in the use of Lean Six Sigma tools for environmental sustainability applications.
Courses include:

- Environmental Lean Six Sigma 1 - Introduction to Lean Six Sigma
- Environmental Lean Six Sigma 2 - Advanced Lean Six Sigma
Project Management/Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Track
This combined track expands on the business track to provide advanced topics in the use of project management techniques to manage environmental sustainability projects and the use of Lean Six Sigma tools for environmental sustainability applications.
